10 Easy Cocktail Snacks & Starters
'TIS THE SEASONING...for appetisers and starters that pack a punch, we have some great ideas for your next get together.
Below are just a few of the things you can make with our Master Grill Collection this holiday season. They all have very simple prep and marination, along with easy oven and indoor grilling methods. In fact you’ll be left with plenty of time to mix some stellar cocktails and make sure your favourite wine, beer and bubbles are chilled and flowing.
1. MASALA MEATBALLS
Spice Blend: Cocktail Kebabs
Serve on cocktail sticks with a chilli tomato or mint and yoghurt dipping sauce. You may well find yourself making these for easy weeknight dinners and putting them into a naan roll or pita pocket. We would say that's what you could do with the leftovers, but we doubt there will be any!
2. MINI SEEKH KEBABS
Spice Blend: Cocktail Kebabs
Serve on cocktail sticks with a mint and coriander chutney. Just delicious and perfect with your cocktails of choice.
3. MASALA COCKTAIL SLIDERS
Spice Blend: Cocktail Kebabs
Use any lamb, beef, turkey, vegetarian, vegan or plant-based mince. Follow the recipe on the card making small patties instead of the above meatball or seekh kebab shapes. Garnish with your favourite leaves and a dash of our mint and yoghurt or mint and coriander chutneys.
4. TANDOORI DRUMSTICKS
Spice Blend: Tandoori Rub
Follow the standard yoghurt marinade recipe on the base of the tin. Garnish with red onion rings and a half or quartered lemons or limes for your guests to squeeze on just prior to digging in.
5. TANDOORI WINGS
Spice Blend: Tandoori Rub
Follow the standard rub or yoghurt marinade recipes on the base of the tin. Pile them up on a platter and a dipping sauce of your choice. You can also use cauliflower florets for a great vegetarian option!
6. TANDOORI PRAWN SKEWERS
Spice Blend: Tandoori Rub
Follow the standard rub or yoghurt marinade recipes on the base of the tin. You'll be transporting your guests to some of the best restaurants from Delhi to Mumbai to the calm and welcoming beaches of Goa.
7. TANDOORI LAMB CHOPS
Spice Blend: Tandoori Rub
Need we say more? Follow the standard rub or yoghurt marinade recipes on the base of the tin. And sprinkle some of our Garam Masala on them a few minutes before their done to your liking. If you decide on smaller chops such as lamb cutlets, you could make these, and also the masala chops below and alternate them on a serving board platter.
8. MAJESTIC MASALA CHOPS
Spice Blend: Masala Chops
One of our most popular dishes at home when we have family and friends over. People even check with us that these are on the menu! Simply follow the pan plus oven/grill method on the included recipe card. Your guests will definitely want to know your secret for making these!
9. PANEER OR TOFU TIKKAS
Spice Blend: Tandoori Rub
Vegetarian delights, serve on skewers alternated with green bell peppers and accompanied by either of our chutneys. If you are catering to vegans, simply use tofu or tempeh cubes and use either the standard rub method on the base of the tin, or a plant-based yogurt if using the yogurt marinade method.
10. CHICKEN & LAMB TIKKAS
Spice Blend: Tandoori Rub
Tikkas, whether they are vegetarian or non-vegetarian like the above chicken and lamb tikkas are always a winner! You can dress up the wooden skewers as above with red onion chunks, and different coloured bell peppers. Or serve them individually with one piece of the chicken or lamb, then one red pepper, one green pepper and a bit of red onion on each cocktail stick.
Whichever combinations of the above you choose for your entertaining your holiday season will be one to remember.
So get your serving platters and those wooden boards that all those Saturday morning cooking programmes have had you buying at the ready.
Because without a doubt you'll be giving everyone some fabulously tasty bites to feast on while you let the good times, and the drinks, roll!
ENJOY!
