What you get

Try every part of our range.

Not a sampler of odds and ends — five expertly curated and crafted blends that cover everything we do, from Butter Chicken to Biryani, and take you from Old Delhi to Punjab, and south to Hyderabad.

  • One curry — butter chicken, India’s most famous
  • One dal — how India actually eats midweek
  • One tandoori masala — tikkas, chops and kebabs
  • One biryani — the showstopping centrepiece
  • Finishing spice — the heirloom garam masala
Old DelhiOld Delhi Butter Chicken
The curry

Old Delhi Butter Chicken

India’s most famous curry, and the one everyone orders. Silky, tomato-rich and gently spiced — makhani gravy the way it should taste. Make it with chicken, or leave the meat out and make paneer makhani; the blend does not mind which.

Butter chicken · paneer makhani
All-IndiaDal Palak
The dal

Dal Palak

Spinach and lentils, slow-warmed into something comforting and quietly addictive. Have it loose in a bowl like a light soup, thicker as a side, or spooned over rice as dal chawal — the way Indian families actually eat midweek.

Soup · side · dal chawal
PunjabTandoori Rub
The grill

Tandoori Rub

Deep, smoky and endlessly useful. Rub it into chicken tikka, lamb chops, seekh kebabs, prawns, salmon, paneer or cauliflower — meat, fish or fully vegetarian. No tandoor and no barbecue needed — your oven, your grill or a hot pan does the work, all year round.

Tikkas · chops · kebabs · prawns
HyderabadBiryani Masala
The biryani

Biryani Masala

The centrepiece — fragrant, layered and the most impressive thing you can put in the middle of a table, yet far easier than it looks. Chicken, lamb, fish or seafood — or keep it vegetarian or vegan: the blend carries all of them, and you decide how much heat goes in.

Meat · fish · seafood · veg
Northern IndiaOriginal Garam Masala
The finish

Original Garam Masala

The heirloom garam masala, and the final flourish on everything else. A pinch stirred in at the end lifts a curry, a dal, a plate of roast potatoes, even scrambled eggs or masala omelettes — the difference between good and unmistakably right.

The heirloom garam masala
SEALED AT SOURCE INDIA'S SPICE COAST
Five blends is where it starts — and you get 100% of it back towards what comes next. You’ll have so much more to explore: from sublime Coastal Curries to Lucknowi kebabs, North-West Frontier grills and legendary Sunday roasts, there are nine more blends to discover. That is exactly what the £40 will come in handy for. All complete with foolproof recipe cards.
The honest truth

You love Indian food. The hard part was never the cooking — it's the spice alchemy.

Never quite cracked it at home? Or cooked it all your life and want the finest masalas to elevate it further? Same answer.

— The Friday takeaway

Expensive. Inconsistent.

And rarely as good as it should be. You order it because cooking it yourself has always felt out of reach.

— Loose spices

Guesswork. Every time.

Bought one by one, the toasting, grinding and balancing is left to chance. One ratio out and the whole dish is off — and nothing tells you which one it was.

— Jars & ready meals

Flat. Sweet. Industrial.

Convenient, yes. But a world away from how a proper curry is actually supposed to taste.

Never made one? You'll be amazed what an onion and the right blend can do. Made a thousand? You'll taste the difference in the blend.

See it made

Watch the dishes come together.

Fresh ingredients going in, the recipe card, the finished dish — cooking this good never came from a jar.

One collection. Cooked your way.

🔥

You control the heat

Every blend is built for depth, not fire. They start gentle — add as much chilli as you like, or none at all. Flavour that takes you there, never blows your head off.

🍗

One blend, many dishes

Butter chicken tonight, paneer makhani tomorrow — same blend. Swap in chicken, lamb, fish, prawns, paneer or chickpeas — or keep it vegetarian or vegan — and every tin becomes several dishes.

🍽️

Midweek meals to weekend feasts

A quick Tuesday dal, or a slow Sunday rogan josh for a full table. The same collection carries the whole week.

🌱

Cooking vegetarian, vegan or plant-based?

Every blend can work for you — most recipes would just need a simple protein swap. Amritsari Chana Masala and Dal Palak are naturally vegan, blend and recipe. For the rest, add paneer (or tofu to keep it vegan), chickpeas, jackfruit or vegetables. Mrs Balbir Singh cooked for everyone at the table.

Easier than you think

Real cooking. None of the guesswork.

No jar, no paste — you cook it fresh. The blend and the recipe card do the hard part; you just add a few everyday ingredients.

1

Open the tin & the card

Every blend comes with its step-by-step recipe card — the Godmother's own method, made simple.

2

Add everyday fresh ingredients

An onion, a few tomatoes, a little cream or yoghurt, and your chicken, lamb, paneer or veg. Nothing exotic — it's all at your local shop.

3

Cook proper Indian at home

Follow the card. In about half an hour, a restaurant-quality dish that beats the takeaway.

Good to know

Questions, answered.

I'm new to Indian cooking — is this for me?

Absolutely — it's the easiest way to start. Every blend does the hard part (the spicing); you just add fresh ingredients and follow the recipe card. If you can chop an onion, you can cook these.

I already cook Indian food — are these for me?

Even more so. This is the ultimate ingredient upgrade for the most important part of Indian cooking — the spices. These are top-grade spices, balanced to Mrs Balbir Singh's own recipes, so you skip buying and grinding a dozen spices and get consistent, restaurant-level results every time. You may even meet blends for curries you haven't cooked before, from Shahi Chicken Masala to Keralan Coconut Curry.

Is it spicy? Can I control the heat?

It's about depth, not heat. The blends are built for layered, aromatic flavour — most are gentle, and you decide how much chilli to add. Flavour that takes you there, never blows your head off.

I'm vegetarian / vegan — will these work?

Yes — every blend suits vegetarian and vegan cooking. Amritsari Chana Masala and Dal Palak are naturally vegan; for the rest, add paneer (or tofu to keep it vegan), chickpeas, jackfruit or vegetables. Butter Chicken becomes paneer makhani; Rogan Josh works beautifully with mushrooms or squash.

Can I use my own proteins?

Absolutely — chicken, lamb, beef, pork, prawns, fish, paneer or veg. The blend carries the dish; you choose what goes in it.

How does the £40 voucher work?

Order from this page and we'll email you a £40 voucher to use on your next order over £80.
